One of the services they offer is to pick up the prescription from your doctors. This is something that is extremely helpful as you do not have to make 2 journeys, which is especially useful if your doctors and the pharmacy are not close to each other. You can pick the prescription up from many pharmacies so you can make sure it fits in with your commute home from work saving you a considerable amount of time and effort.

Sometimes you may want to check that you are taking the right kind of medicines for you, if you are at all unsure you can pop in for a chat with an experienced pharmacist and they will give you their expert advice on what you should be taking. This is an informal chat as oppose to a doctor where people may feel a little shy. The pharmacist will talk you through the alternatives and inform you of the effects the tablets or medicine may have.

Your pharmacy is also a good place to get a check up and make sure that everything is ok. Again, visiting a pharmacy for this puts peoples mind at ease as you will probably know the pharmacist quite well and you will feel relaxed rather than being uptight and tense. Minor ailments, blood pressure and allergy treatment are the types of things they will check when you visit the pharmacist.

If you are a smoker then it is definitely worth visiting your local pharmacist to see what information you can get on stopping smoking. Smoking not only does serious damage to your health but costs you a considerable amount of money each year. The cost of a packet of cigarettes at the moment is around £6, now if you smoked 20 a day then you are spending over £500 a year. Think what you could do with that? You could have a nice holiday for that amount of money.
